Product description

Hound and Horse, A Dartmoor Commonplace book

The Handbook of the Dartmoor Expedition of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London

19th - 21st June 1992

Extract from the Preface:

The programme of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London would not be the same if a weekend excursion to places of canonical interest were not included. This year we go to Dartmoor. For most people, The Hound of the Baskervilles with its intriguing of plot and topographical inconsistencies has always taken their attention but now Silver Blaze must share the limelight.

Such a weekend does not set out to make a great statement of problems solved. Rather it is for Holmesian scholars to exchange theories and argue chronology, incident, place and character. Above all I hope members can enjoy sharing this lovely part of the world with ghosts past, where Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson successfully deduced two mysteries that had hitherto eluded others' efforts. One can assume that the two men would have approved the setting in which their acolytes will find themselves and where these stories of Victorian mayhem and life can engage their full attention.
