Greyhounds, gang warfare and slum tenements set the scene in this fast-track story from Glasgow's Clydeside, 1965.
Alec Ross, a night club singer, and his friend Fraser, a lippy Italian, rob a garage and fix the last race at Shawfield, the local greyhound stadium. Ross is attacked and beaten up by a razor gang The Point who blackmail him into handing over the money, but with the help of Sloan, his London based gangster friend, Ross retaliates.
Ross now confronts a sinister man, Harvey 'the tailor' Lomax, who controls the area. He recruits Ross to help plan a wages lift using The Point and peace is restored on the streets. But the wily Ross senses treachery and cracks the Tailor's safe to find the contract, Plutocrat get Ross, when the robbery is completed. Who is Plutocrat? And where will he strike?
The robbery date nears. Ross is scared and plots a double cross, planning his escape from Lomax, Plutocrat and Glasgow. But who and, where is the unknown Plutocrat?
