Product description

[Signed copy]
A ghostly and chilling time-slip novel of illicit love, medieval barbarity, and a terrifying haunting of the present day. Author Jo Cavanagh has split with her partner Conflict Resolution Officer Blake Durante and heads off to the isolated Twilight Cottage in a remote area of the Lake District. to work on her latest novel. Before she reaches the cottage freak accident on a precipitous mountain road causes her to have a bizarre and frightening experience that defies logic. It is her first encounter with the tormented soul of Anthony Chase, a medieval knight favoured by King Edward but brutally murdered on account of his forbidden love for the beautiful Madeline St. Clair. Meanwhile a new grave is being dug at the churchyard close by Twilight Cottage. But is it new? Old passions are released when grave digger Seth Rigby opens up ancient ground and bizarre behaviour and terrifying events follow. Jo is now installed at Twilight Cottage and although at first daunted by the isolation and strange aura, she begins working on her book. She walks down to the churchyard at dusk and makes a startling find which triggers a train of weird and horrific events. Gradually the tragic fate of Anthony and Madeline emerges and Jo and her new neighbours become embroiled in the repercussions. It soon becomes clear that Twilight Cottage is haunted by a restless and vengeful presence and Jo is the target. She is cut off from the outer world and locked into a nightmare one that defies rational explanation. Blake Durante, recently returned to England from a conflict resolution conference, is disturbed by his failure to make contact and fearing something has happened to her, sets out in blizzard conditions for the Lake District. Unknown to him Jo s literary agent with whom he once had a brief fling, has the same idea and the scene is set for a frightening and disturbing climax. The menacing supernatural episodes reach a gruesome and terrifying conclusion. But throughout the trauma and tragedy, the love between Anthony and Madeline defies extinction. Jo and Brant find themselves drawn into a complex web of emotions old and new. The conclusion is as touching as it is dramatic and unexpected.
