Between rounds of golf, painting landscape, writing books, and more rounds of golf, George Houghton drew at least two hundred cartoons every year. His ability to make familiar scenes funny through his drawings was remarkable. More than forty golf books by George Houghton have been published. Total sales of his 'Golf Addict' books and publications far exceed those of any other golf writer, past or present.
Born in 1905 in Perth, Scotland and educated at Dronfield School, Derbyshire, George Houghton had a varied and distinguished career. He studies art at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris where he remained for a number of years, working for the Daily Mail. During the war, his service to the Royal Air Force earned him an OBE, but in later life, it was golf that was become his all-consuming passion.
George Houghton's cartoons capture his fellow 'Golf Addicts' in all their moods, creating a book which makes an ideal present for any golfer.
