Mapp And Lucia Novels

£19.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Mapp and Lucia is a collective name for a series of novels by E. F. Benson (1897-1940). He was an English novelist, biographer, memoirist, archaeologist and short story writer. The novels feature humorous incidents in the lives of (mainly) upper-middle-class British people in the 1920s and 1930s, vying for social prestige and one-upmanship in an atmosphere of extreme social snobbery. Several of the novels are set in Tilling, closely based on Rye, East Sussex, where Benson lived for a number of years and, like Lucia, served as mayor. This volume includes the books: Queen Lucia, 'The Male Impersonator', Lucia In London, Mapp And Lucia, Lucia's Progress, and Trouble For Lucia.

This large-format paperback is an usual copy and is something of a mystery. It is undated and there is no copyright page. The only information appears on the back page, as follows: 'Printed in Great Britain by Amazon.co.uk, Ltd. Marston Gate.' It is in a good, used condition, although the page block is slightly marked. It is bound in a wrap-around pictorial cover which is in a good condition.

We relocated in January 2016 to larger premises and are now able to offer a wider range of books and music (you can come and check out your musical choices in our listening booth and also find out a lot more about Oxfam's work.). We have a new local interest section, more space for history and have extended our craft and arts offer.  We also sell cards, fair trade food and ethical cleaning and beauty products.

Hexham is a market town situated in the beautiful Tyne Valley - the ideal stopping off point before exploring Hadrian's Wall, Chesters, Housesteads and the Temple of Mithras at Carrawburgh.
