Product description

A selection of nine books by Joan Butler, the nom-de-plume of the prolific Irish author of humorous works, Robert William Alexander. All published by Stanley Paul, London with cloth boards. None have the original dust jackets but all books are enclosed in a clear plastic wrap. All measure 12cm x 19cm. The text is clear and perfectly readable in all cases.

Space To Let (First edition, 1955). Blue boards worn and stained. Front board semi-detached from block. Signature on front endpaper. Pages lightly tanned but no foxing.

Double Figures (Undated but first edition, 1946). Green boards in good condition. Handwritten dedication at front. Binding firm. Pages only lightly tanned with no foxing.

Full House (Undated but probably first edition 1940s). Orange boards in good condition but spine is faded. Endpapers are browned and last page is torn. Binding is firm. Pages are very lightly tanned with no foxing.

Heat Haze (undated). Red boards quite worn. Ex-library copy with repairs where boards have become detached from book block, otherwise binding is firm. Light tanning, no foxing.

Paper Money (First edition, 1954). Red Boards in good condition, though spine faded. Binding firm. Pages only lightly tanned with no foxing.

The Old Firm (Undated but probably first edition 1940s). Red boards in good condition though a little soiled. Back board semi-detached from block. Pages lightly tanned but no foxing.

The Light Lover (1950 reprint of 1929 original). Green boards in good condition with some staining to spine. Endpapers browned and front endpapers have several handwritten notations. Binding a little loose but firm. Pages only lightly tanned with no foxing.

Landed Gentry (First edition, 1954). Green boards in good condition, minimal bumping. Ex-library copy, front board is semi-detached from block otherwise binding is firm. Endpapers stained, pages tanned but minimal foxing.

Soothing Syrup (First edition, 1951). Green boards show wear. Front and back boards have become semi-detached from book block, otherwise bindings are firm. Pages tanned but no foxing.
