Robert E Howard (1906 – 1936) was an American author who wrote pulp fiction in a diverse range of genres. He is well known for his character Conan the Barbarian and is regarded as the father of the sword and sorcery subgenre. Howard was also fascinated by outlaws and gunmen, and he knew and interviewed many old timers. The twelve stories collected in this book show a West stripped down to essentials. Also included are four articles – from Billy the Kid to eerie and unexplained happenings on the frontier. This volume has been edited by, and includes an informative introduction by Rusty Burke, a noted Howard scholar and collector.
This book will appeal to those with an interest in the work of Robert E Howard beyond the more well-known examples of his writing.
