The Fall of Troy

£9.99

Product description

This is a green cloth-bound edition with gold lettering along the spine and the publisher's logo on the front cover. The plates are in good condition with only some softening around the corners and edge. This copy still has its dust jacket in-tact, although it is torn in places with the green colouring fading. Along the side of the pages are some signs of shelf-wear, but internally they are bright and free of any marks. Containing the original Greek text alongside a complete English translation.

A bold, and generally underrated attempt, to mirror Homer's style and complete the story of Troy from the point at which the Iliad closes. Quintus tells us the stories of Penthesilia, the Amazonian queen; Memnon, leader of the Ethiopians; the death of Achilles; the contest for Achilles' arms between Ajax and Odysseus; the arrival of Philoctetes; and the making of the Wooden Horse. Ending with the departure of the Greeks in the wrath of a great storm.
