The Subtle Knife is the second book in the His Dark Materials trilogy and follows on from the first book The Northern Lights, which author Philip Pullman won the Carnegie medal for in 1996. It is 341 pages long. This copy is good condition with a inscribed signature from Philip Pullman on the title page, the signature reads - 'To Rita, with my best wishes - Philip Pullman'. The copy is clean and tight with the bottom left hand corner of three of the early pages having been folded down.

The Subtle Knife focuses on a boy called Will who is 12 years old and has just killed a man, he finds himself stepping through a window in the air to another world. He finds himself with a strange and savage little girl named Lyra as a companion, who was the main protagonist in the first Northern Lights novel. The BBC are currently producing a TV adaptation of the His Dark Materials trilogy.
