Mrs Beeton's Family Cookery

£19.99

Product description

An undated copy, but the ladies in the Chivers Jam advert are wearing "the New Look" so either the late 1940s or early 1950s. The book is quarter bound, with a dark brown leather spine and golden yellow boards.
Although the end papers at front and back have split, exposing the webbing, the text block is still tight and there is no loss of pages. Text block edges are moderately toned and there are minor signs of handling here and there in the book. However all text is clear, all recipes legible, there are numerous b/w line drawings, shriekingly vivid colour plates and some b/w photographs. The advertisements at each end of the book possess their own special charm. As well as Chivers Jam there are ads, printed in brown on cream paper, such as Pannett & Neden's "Stuffo" stuffing, Holbrook's Worcester Sauce and Senator American Blend Coffee.
