1961 reprint, first published in 1957, a penguin handbook this was intended as a serious cookbook to help people to try a variety of foreign foods; mostly French. With black & white illustrations by David Gentleman, includes a glossary and index.

As well as a large number of simple to follow recipes there are sections on kitchen equipment, the store cupboard and general techniques. Contains a useful and comprehensive index. A valuable addition to any cooks library.

There is some fading on the spine, the card covers , although bright and clean, curl open at the opening edges. Pages are yellowed but are clean and not annotated. Binding tight and souns.
