Instructions For Using Sandow's Spring Grip Dumb-Bells

Product description

Instructions For Using Sandow's Spring Grip Dumb-Bells

This booklet is intended to accompany Sandow's spring grip dumb-bells.

The date is uncertain, but reference is made on page 2 to supplying King George V.

The booklet comprises 24 pages printed in black-and-white with instruction and photographs of the dumb-bells in use. The cover is slate-coloured card and the binding consists of two metal staples. The cover is in good condition, but there is some discolouration. The binding is generally good, but the staples have some rust and the centre pages (ie. 11-14) are not held. The pages themselves are in good condition with few marks, but there is some foxing to pages 16 and 17, and some rust marks from the staples.

This is a fascinating booklet that would be a useful addition to any antique Sandow's Dumb-bells that lack them. Of particular note are the exercises that deal with "modern complaints" such as "constipation", "insomnia and nervous debility" and a "sluggish liver" as well as the illustrations of dumb-bells for "gentlemen", "youths and ladies" and "children".

Approx 170mm x 120mm.

Inspection of the images supplied is recommended.
