A concise history of Russia

£12.99

Product description

2012. Accessible to students, tourists and general readers alike, this book provides a broad overview of Russian history since the ninth century. Paul Bushkovitch emphasises the enormous changes in the understanding of Russian history resulting from the end of the Soviet Union in 1991. Since then, new material has come to light on the history of the Soviet era, providing new conceptions of Russia's pre-revolutionary past. The book traces not only the political history of Russia, but also developments in its literature, art and science. Bushkovitch describes well-known cultural figures, such as Chekhov, Tolstoy and Mendeleev, in their institutional and historical contexts. Though the 1917 revolution, the resulting Soviet system and the Cold War were a crucial part of Russian and world history, Bushkovitch presents earlier developments as more than just a prelude to Bolshevik power.
Very good condition with no damage or marks.

Oxfam Books & Music Olney

Welcome to Oxfam Books And Music Olney, situated just off the market square in Stanley Court opposite the Co-op. Come and browse our extensive selection of books, music, DVDs, computer games and cards. In our shop you can discover a great range of material from the latest modern fiction to classic literature and vintage LPs. We are always happy to receive your donations of books or music, and you can choose to Gift Aid them to Oxfam. We might also be able to collect particularly large donations - just ask. We are always interested in hearing from people who wish to volunteer with us. Just pop in to collect an application form.

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
