A history of the Royal Armoured Corps and its predecessors 1914 to 1975

£9.99

Product description

This book tells the whole story including the history of the Royal Tank Regiment back to its beginings in WW1 and the mechanisation of the cavalry between the wars. We have the formation of 1st Armoured Brigade and Mobile Division, and the stuggle to equip the early armoured divisions. The rest of the book is a summary of the actions in which the RAC took part in just the right amount of detail to keep the interest flowing. Whilst some books focus on one or the other this one includes both RTR and Cavalry "wings" of the RAC without confusing the issues and is very readable. British regimental history can be very confusing but here it is kept nice and simple. I have spotted a couple of little mistakes eg "11 June 1940 .... 11 H, supported by A9 and A10 cruisers .... of 7 QOH and 6 RTR", when A10's did not arrive until October 1940 with 2 RTR. Its always good to cross reference with other sources and this is a minor point. This book is very informative and especially recomended to any newcomer to the subject.

Oxfam Bookshop Hertford

Oxfam is the UK's largest second hand bookseller, but it doesn't stop there. We sell a great range of donated music as well. Whether it's vintage LPs or the latest modern fiction you want, we're well worth a look! We also offer a range of greetings cards for birthday and other occasions. Call us to find out more.

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
