A History of Venice

£19.99

Product description

Originally published as two volumes, A History of Venice gives the reader a magnificent story of the city, from the fifth century AD, through its rise as a powerful city state, to its decline at the hands of Napoleon. Accompanied by maps and numerous monochrome photographs it is a must for those wanting to deepen their knowledge of this unique city.

There is a small cut (approx. 1cm) and a crease (approx. 4cm) plus some indentations, to the front upper section of the dust jacket; some light creasing along edges and slight tanning to flap folds. The substantial book is in very good condition, with only slight sunning to the top edges of the covering blue boards and slight lower corner bumping. The inside pages and illustrations are clean and bright.

"The standard Venetian history in English, indispensable not only to academic students but to any of us who take our venetian involvements with a proper seriousness." - Jan Morris, "The Times" of London.
