An Economic History of the USSR, 1917-1991 / Alec Nove

£24.99

Product description

This Penguin paperback book is in very good condition.  The cover is in very good condition, apart from a little edge wear, a 1cm tear at the top of the front of the spine and creasing along the spine.  The previous owner has inked their name at the top of the front end paper and there is a bookshop stamp on the inside of the back cover, but internally the pages are in very good condition - clean, tight and unmarked.

This update to "The History of the Soviet Economy" covers the period from the Bolshevik seizure of power to the aftermath of the failed coup, which speeded up the disintegration of the Soviet Union. The final chapter encompasses Gorbachev's attempt to reform the old system and the failure of that attempt. The development of "glasnost" included the opening to Russian and foreign scholars of archives and access to information previously concealed.
