Dustjacket in good condition, pale stain by bottom of spine, and small nicks at top of spine edge - see photo. 388pp, including Appendix and Index. With 53 b/w illustrations in the text and a few full-page. As early as 3000 B.C. the Egyptians were using hieroglyphic writing, and by 1100B.C. the Greek alphabet was derived from that of the Phoenicians. A very informative book on handwriting through the centuries.
