Archaeology From The Earth - 1st Edition

£5.99

Product description

A hard back book with cream covers and gilt writing to the spine. This ex library book is in decent condition. It has a catalogue number to the spine and library stamps to the end papers and randomly throughout the book. There are a couple of marks to the backboard and spine and foxing to the front and back end papers.

Oxford At The Clarendon Press, 1954.

Archaeology from the Earth is a classic. This volume remains unmatched for it's passionate statements, concerning the purpose archaeology and the description of the techniques of the excavation. Although there has been an explosion of forensic techniques in the recovery and analyses of various kinds of archaeological data since then there cannot be a better introduction to the actual task of excavation than what wheeler wrote on the basis of his British and Indian experience. Includes several black and white colour plates.
