Softcover (but not a paperback), in good condition.  Spine slightly faded, and outer corner edges and spine ends are slightly rubbed.    Front free endpaper, frontispiece, half-title page, and pages 355-358 and a plan are loose  (at the front of the book),  the rest of the book is very tight with no looseness.   The multi folding two page panorama of  Rome is torn  on the seam  to halfway from the bottom (but it is a superb  picture).   lxxvi, 454pp,  With 11 maps, 46 plans, a panorama of Rome, a view of the Forum Romanum, and the Arms of the Popes since 1417.  First published  in 1867, this edition 1900.   Plus booklet 'Index of Streets and three Plans of Rome.
