Collieries of South Wales: Volume 1

£15.00

Product description

From hundreds of coal mines in an area traditionally associated with coal, especially in the valleys, there are now only two pits working and some 30,000 men can only reflect on their previous life as a miner. This book consists of the pick of some 7,500 photographs, many taken underground, and of 39 collieries across the coalfield. They portray the very pulse of the area: the pits which were so very much the life blood of the valleys; colliery buildings; men riding conveyors to work; coal cutters ripping out the coal; photographs of the men at work and so on.
A pictorial record of 39 collieries, using 275 photographs, including many underground.
The unclipped dustjacket is lightly worn and faded on the spine. The hardback cover is bumped at the ends of the spine. The binding is sound. The pages are clean and unmarked.
Copyright 2001.
