Cuba, Si!

£14.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

In celebration of 50 years of Cuban photography, 9 of the island's greatest photographers document the American-influenced Cuba of the pre-revolutionary years through the revolution itself to modern Cuba. The images powerfully evoke the country's salient characteristics: flamboyant energy, vibrant music scene and political idealism. At the centre of this retrospective is the definitive image to come from the Cuban Revolution; Alberto Korda's 1960 portrait of Che Guevara, which defined Latin American solidarity and acquired an iconic status across the world. Other work by Korda alongside two distinguished contemporaries is included with work of younger Cuban photographers, born after the revolution and the work of those who came of age during Castro's Cuba. The photographs in this book are a testament to the contradictory beauty of a rebellious nation.
