Fowey Estuary Historic Audit

£40.00

Product description

From ale-house to ancient woodland, from watch-tower to waterwheel, hundreds of archaeological sites and historic structures enrich the estuary of the River Fowey. Much of the estuary is now tranquil, but its wealth of archaeological remains show how its waters were once busy with human activity.

The Historic Audit surveys the impact of people on a nationally important landscape, from prehistory to the present day. It describes the archaeological sites of its coastline, the tidal reaches of the River Fowey, and all the tributary creeks. A full gazetteer and location maps, lists of vessels launched and wreaked in the estuary, and a review of the present state of the historic environment are included.

CONDITION: Minor spotting to top edge of pages otherwise clean and bright with no inscriptions or notations.
