Francesco Guicciardini Opere, a cura di Vittorio de Caprariis. Riccardo Ricciardi editore, Milano Napoli 1953. Hdbk. 1092 pp. Pages have slightly browned at the edges, and the light brown cloth covers have slightly faded; but this is otherwise in very good condition. Yellow silk marker ribbon. A few light pencil marginalia, easily rubbed out.
This splendidly produced doorstopper of a book is volume 30 in that magnificent series La Letteratura Italiana Storia e Testi. It contains the whole of Guicciardini’s Storia d’Italia, as well as a comprehensive range of other texts, such as the Relazione di Spagna, the Ricordi, the Storie Fiorentine etc. There are helpful Notes at the end, as well as two indices, one general and the other an index of names mentioned. Texts all in Italian, of course, but to any serious student of Italian literature, this is an absolutely essential volume, available here (and here only) at a very competitive price.
