Book in very good condition internally, Free endpapers are tanned on one side. Just a few of the pages are one or two spots of foxing, otherwise all are very clean and bright. Foxing on the fore-edge. Frontispiece - portrait of Maxwell is loose. Hinge is very slight cracked between pages 160-161, but book is still very tight, no looseness. Boards are a little faded, more so on the spine - see photo. xi, 228pp, including Index. Maxwell won his V.C. for bravery during the Second |Boer War. Contents: A Memoir - Early Years: India Frontier - South Africa - India and Australia - France: May to October, 1961 - France: October 1916 to September 1917. With frontispiece and 5 black-and-white photographs, plus two sketches in the text.
