Product description

Hardback with blue boards and gilt lettering on spine. Published by Oxford University Press. First edition, 1966.

David Knowles OSB (born Michael Clive Knowles, 1896-1974) was an English Benedictine monk who was Regius Professor of Modern History at the University of Cambridge from 1954 to 1963. His specialism was English monastic history from the 10th century to the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century.

The Sarum lectures in theology were established through a fund left by John Bampton in the 18th century. They ran from 1952 to 1996.

Hardback, no dust jacket. Lettering on spine is faded. The book was previously in a convent library, but shows few signs of use internally except for the bookplate and note on the front endpaper. Pages are clean and bright.
