£15.99

Product description

A first edition copy of Khaki Courage: Letters In Wartime by Coningsby Dawson, published by John Lane, The Bodley Head, New York (1917). Coningsby Dawson (1883-1959) was an English novelist living in New York when he volunteered for the Canadian Army in 1916 with the rank of Lieutenant. This volume is a compilation of letters to his family from the trenches. It has since been reprinted numerous times in the United States where Dawson was better known. Green cloth boards with blind lettering to front and spine. Red dustjacket with text. There is a plate of the author on the frontispiece. 185 pp, measuring 13cm x 20cm.

Condition is good for its age. The dustjacket is tatty. The boards are in good condition with the exception of the top 8cm of the spine which has faded. The edges of the rough cut book block are lightly soiled, the top is more soiled. The bindings are firm. The inner pages are lightly tanned with a little foxing evident on the outer side edges of some pages.
