La Diversité du Monde - Famille et modernité (The Diversity of the World - Family and modernity)

£12.99

Product description

Please note: The text of book is in French.

In the early 1980s, Emmanuel Todd was struck by the almost perfect coincidence between the map of completed communism and that of a particular type of peasant, authoritarian and egalitarian family structure. He then hypothesized a necessary connection between the anthropological background and superstructure of authoritarianism of the parent-child relationship, the degree of equality in the relationship between brothers, the matrimonial exchange and the status of the woman - allowed him to explain, in two founding works, the diversity of regional or national ideological and economic destinies. Empirically verified, this hypothesis has not been refuted.

Pull-out colour map at the end of the book.

There is very mild creasing to the front cover of the book. Otherwise it is in excellent condition throughout.
