Les Anglais à Paris Au 19e Siècle

£7.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Long removed from France by the revolutionary troubles, English and Scots landed en masse at the fall of Napoleon, finally free to discover Paris. From the military occupation of 1814 to the crowds of the universal exhibitions of the end of the century, this British presence has given rise to a rich iconography, as much on the side of the English landscapers as of that of the French caricaturists. In addition to a largely illustrated historical study, this book brings together a selection of excerpts from travel journals that provide as many picturesque testimonies of the difficult learning of Parisians of the 19th century.
