My Command

£9.99

Product description

Subtitled, " An account of the Nigerian Civil War 1967 - 1970", the book is written by one of the top commanders who was eventually to become head of State. The author stars with a concise survey of the political background between independence in 1960 and the outbreak of war seven years later, and gives a vivid and detailed account of the military operations on all fronts. He concludes with an account of the management of the last days, and an assessment of foreign attitudes and involvement. Contains 12 illustration plates and 8 maps.

This is the first edition of this book, published in 1980, and includes a dust jacket. It is in fine condition with dark orange boards and gilt titles. The jacket has a few light surface marks plus slight rubbing wear along edges and to spine ends. There is some faint pencil writing to the top of the half-title and a booksellers label on the front fly leaf.

The book would be of absorbing interest to the lay reader as well as to those concerned with military history.
