New York Central's later Power 1910 - 1968

£19.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Title: New York Central's Later Power 1910 - 1968

Author: Alvin Staufer and Edward L May

This book's 496 pages contain over 1000 photographs and 50 drawings.

In 1967 Al Staufer, Ed May and Bill Edson published New York Central's Early Power 1831 - 1916, a locomotive history of the various roads that ultimately became the New York Central.

In 1974 Al and Ed produced "Thoroughbreds", the definitive study of Central's "Hudson" type, the most famous class of locomotive in the world.

With this volume Al and Ed have completed the work. Anything that pulled anything on the vast 12,000 mile rail system is studied; they include steam, diesels, electrics, multiple units, rail cars and boats.

Public monies have played havoc with normal and "just" transportation patterns and developments in America and though the trail remains, the princely New York Central System is no more.

The book is in good condition throughout.

The dust jacket is in good condition with wears and minor tears on the upper and lower corner edges.

The book has navy blue boards with gilt lettering to the spine.
