Old Gorgie

£35.00

Product description

Introduction

In 1995 I wrote and published a book called Edinburgh: Gorgie & Dalry. As this is now almost out of print I was very pleased to be asked by Stenlake Publishing to put together two photographic records of the district under the titles Old Gorgie and Old Dalry. When I first researched these areas some years ago, I gathered a large number of photographs, many of which were never used in the original book. This new publications now gives the opportunity to use these photographs, along with some of the others. the boundary between Gorgie and Dalry has been taken as the Ardmillan junction, but some difficulty has been encountered in allocating pictures in and around Murieston. All I can say is that if your favourite view is not in Old Gorgie, perhaps it will be in Old Dalry.

Old Gorgie covers the area from Ardmillan westwards to Stenhouse Mansion where the modern district of Stenhouse begins, and includes the various side streets between Gorgie Road and Slateford Road.
