School Memories of Yesterday - The History of West Preston Manor 1933-79

£19.99

Product description

This hardcover book is in very good condition overall. The cover of the book has a gilded title on the spine and the book includes the original dust jacket, price uncut. Both the jacket and cover are without major issue. Inside, the pages of the book are clean and without issue.

'For over 40 years from 1933 to 1979, West Preston Manor was a day and boarding school for (mostly) girls, established and run by the redoubtable Miss Dorothy Boykett. She was strict but caring and a dedicated teacher with her own ideas. Dagny Stromwall, the author of the history, joined the staff in the early days, eventually becoming Miss B.'s partner. Her memories include the alterations that transformed the old manor - parts of which date back to the days of wattle and daub; the teachers - many of whom also devoted a great part of their lives to the school; and of course, the pupils.'
