Product description

The Indian and Pakistan Armies 1903-1991.Written by John Gaylor and published by Spellmount Ltd. in 1992, with a foreword by Field Marshal Sir John Chapple. Includes black and white photographs.

The East India Company was granted a charter to trade in 1600. The Company, John Company to it's employees and customers, drove out trade rivals. However The Great Mutiny of 1857 resulted in The Crown assuming responsibility for India, and the task of "tidying up the three armies and the numerous other military bodies which had been raised over the years" began, resulting eventually in a unified Indian Army, which was subsequently split by partition. This book endeavours to show how the Indian Army was created and what happened to it after partition.

In very good used condition bound in red cloth with gold lettering. Dust jacket in Mylar cover in very good unclipped condition.
