South - The Story of the 1914-1917 Expedition

£60.00

Product description

This book is a retelling of the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914-1917, which attempted to be the first successful land crossing of Antarctica. The expedition, considered the last major expedition of the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration, was unsuccessful but is recognised as an epic feat of endurance. This book includes a number of prints (both in black and white and colour) and was written by Sir Ernest Shackleton, who led the expedition.

The book is in fair condition, with notable wear along the edges of the cover and spine. Internally, one of the plates has come loose but is included in the book. The pages are browned with age but besides the one print there are no other loose pages and a secure binding. The pages are clean and the book includes a fold-out map located at the back of the book, though this has some damage and wear.
