Jordan, carved out by International agreement after WWI, contains monuments of many civilisations, Paleolithic, Neolithic and Chalcolithic pre bronze age. Much of the evidence is amplified by Biblical references. The Assyrians, Persians, Greeks and Arabs left their mark on places including Petra, Mafjar, Jericho, Jarash and of course Crusader Castles.
