Product description

The Blackpool Story
Brian Turner & Steve Palmer
No publisher: commissioned by the Corporation of Blackpool to celebrate the Centenary of the Borough 1876-1976.
Hardback; 210 x 305 mm; red boards with gold titles on spine and front cover; 140 pages. Original unclipped dust jacket. Profusely illustrated in monochrome and printed on good quality paper.
The book is in good condition. The binding is sound. Some bumping, chipping, and small closed tears to the dust jacket which is tanned internally. The front cover is slightly bowed outwards. Vertical crease on the front paste-down endpaper. A little internal tanning of the page ends. Tiny dog ears pages 25-32.
In three parts: The Rise of Blackpool; Blackpool Enterprise; the Twentieth Century.
“The Blackpool Story is really two books in one, for the 80,000-word text is complemented by 150 superb photographs, full of human interest, which provide many hours’ fascinating study and would constitute a pictorial ‘album’ in their own right. The...photographs have been selected and positioned with meticulous care to illustrate each section of the text. The result is an exceptional blend of words and pictures which makes The Blackpool Story a major addition to British social history.”
