The Boy's Own Annual, Thirty-Eighth Volume, 1915-16

£30.00

Product description

Large, illustrated green cloth cover with red titles on the front cover and gilt titles on the spine which is also illustrated. The back cover is illustrated with black line drawings. The corners are bumped as are the ends of the spine and there is some rubbing to the back and the edges of the front. Inside the front cover there is a tinted illustration of Captain Cook's first landing at Botany Bay in 1770, this is protected with tissue which is a little foxed. The hinges at both the front and rear are a little loose but are not detached. There is some foxing on some of the inner pages and also some are discoloured with age. The book has many fold out illustrations, some are in full colour, some are monochrome. The book is a compilation of many authors' and artists' work and features many stories, factual tales and features. Inside the back cover and on the back end paper there are two illustrations, one depicting Livingstone's discovery of the Victoria Falls in 1855 and the Highlanders at the relief of Lucknow in 1857, both are tinted ink and watercolour. This is a very heavy book.
