£14.99

Product description

Hardback with pictorial dust jacket, a table on the front end paper and a map on the rear; it has blue boards with gilt titling on the spine. It is in good condition, although there is a previous owners inspection on the title page. It contains both introduction and index, there are black and white and colour illustration as well as charts and maps.
This is a companion volume to "The Guinness History of Land Warfare" and it shows the complementary nature of maritime combat by comparison with its landward component part, and gives fresh insight into the fundamental "reasons why", besides the outcome of naval campaigns and battles. It introduces the great naval commanders in their moments of triumph and failure. It also looks at the impact f less well known areas of the naval art such as communication systems.
