This volume describes the beginning of the standing army, and covers the history of the Tenth Foot in the years from 1685 to 1813. Contains 18 illustration plates.

The book has strong green cloth boards and gilt titles. The covers have a range of general marks plus some wear and bumping to corners and spine ends. Text block edges are dust-darkened and have foxing speckles; foxing spots on the leading edge have affected the edges of some early pages. Inside, the front free end paper has been torn away and the book begins with the half-title, which has some foxing spots, which can also be occasionally be seen on other pages.
