Two hardback volumes published by the Trust for Wessex Archaeology in conjunction with English Heritage. First edition, 1999.
Volume 1, Text, is based on a comprehensive seven-year survey of the Palaeolithic archaeology of England and Wales, which sought to identify the findspots and plot the distribution of Lower and Middle Palaeolithic artefacts. But the book is also concerned with people: when and where they moved through the land we now know as Britain and what they were doing, as far as we can tell, during their c. half million years of occupation. It includes many illustrations, some in colour.
Volume 2, The Distribution Map and Gazetteer of Sites, shows all the major distributions by area.
No dust jackets. Previous owner’s name neatly written on front endpapers. Some yellowing, but otherwise free of notes. Both volumes are in very good condition.
Due to their weight, these books will be sent by courier.
