It chronicles the Pacific war against the Japanese, 1942-5, including the battle of the phillipine Sea, nicknamed the Marianas Turkey Shoot because of the high losses inflicted.;The book covers the Cold War, the Korean war and the Vietnam war, also publishing a selection of biographies of US airmen still missing in Vietnam. The author lifts the veil on reconnaissance work over the Soviet Bloc, such as covert operations by U2 aircraft, the so-called Black Lady of Espionage. There are alos reports on the Gulf war including dramatic accounts from airmen flying F15s, F16s, F111s and Stelath fighters.;Appendices provide complete lists of US airmen in the Battle of britain, Medal of Honour recipients, US aces in WW2 and Korea, plus US losses and victories in the Gulf war.
