Through Cyprus with the Camera in the Autumn of 1878 : John Thomson [1985]

£60.00

Product description

Published in 1985 by Trigraph-London.

An absolutely fascinating book. 59 pages of photographs printed in very high quality, alongside John Thomson's descriptions.

In 1878 John Thomson travelled to Cyprus with his camera, and in 1879 his photographs and descriptions were published. They give a very graphic account of life in the island some 140 years ago. Originally published in two volumes this 1985 edition includes all the text and photographs from the original editions, together with a map of Thomson's route and biographical notes by Ialeen Gibson Cowan. Other than corrections to some spellings this reflects the original author's work.

There is an inscription on the half-title page with an illegible signature.

Complete with original unclipped dust jacket this is in a very good condition throughout with very little sign of any wear, slight creasing and rubbing to the edges of the dust jacket.
