Uniforms of the British Army: The Cavalry Regiments

£19.99

Product description

First edition 1982. Black boards with gilt titles on the front and the spine, all in excellent condition with just the slightest of scuff marks on the lower edges. Small amount of foxing on the top edge, also foxing on the fly title page. No inscriptions and binding is tight. Unclipped dust jacket has very slight edge wear at the top and base of the spine, the spine is sunned. This volume covers the uniforms worn in the Household Cavalry, the twenty-eight regiments of Cavalry of the Line and the Royal Horse Artillery, and the text gives details of the formation of each regiment and the complicated changes of title and uniform up to the time of publication. The many magnificent colour illustrations are from paintings by Richard Simkin and include some of the best examples of his work; The detailed and scholarly text which accompanies the plates was written by W Y Carman, an authority on military uniforms. Very good condition with little sign of usage.

Oxfam Bookshop Lymington

Lymington is on the South coast, bordering on the New Forest National Park which was created as a Royal Forest in 1079 by William the Conqueror, and first recorded as 'Nova Foresta' in the Doomsday Book in 1086. Our Oxfam Shop at 73, The High Street is in a lovely Georgian building, the tallest in Lymington. The elegant Georgian buildings lining the wide main street were built mostly for merchants in the local salt trade. The famous Saturday market brings the town to life with its variety of stalls. The area is renowned for outdoor pursuits, including camping, sailing, windsurfing, and surfing, as well as forest walks and horse riding.
