Weather Or Not! The Highs and Lows of Regional Weather Forecasting

£7.99

Product description

BBC TV 'Look North' weather forecaster Paul Hudson, noted for his cheerful presentation and jazzy ties, joins forces with Bob Rust, who for many years presented the regional forecast on Yorkshire Television's 'Calendar'. Together they look at the highs and lows of our local weather, ranging from storm and flood to snow and drought. Our present obsession with weather, pertinent signs and sayings, and the pitfalls of being a TV forecaster all receive attention. The illustrations include many remarkable photographs from the Yorkshire Post library depicting extreme weather and its consequences over the last seventy years. These vividly recall the "worst winter of the twentieth century" in 1947, the never-to-be-forgotten night of January 31st 1953 that devastated many East Coast towns, and three severe droughts when Yorkshire came perilously close to running out of water.
