Woodford then and now - a photographic commentary

£18.00

Product description

Hardback in excellent condition, the dust jacket has a celotape mend on front.

In selecting past photographs from a collection formed since the beginning of the century, the author, has compiled a "then and now" pictorial record depicting the contrasting character of Woodford, Essex, over a period which spans almost 80 years. Accompanying the photographs, the history of Woodford is told from the beginning of the 13th century. For Woodfordians whose memories encompass the early part of the century, this work aims to stir recollections of a leafy suburb in a semi-rural setting. There are views, though, which remain virtually as they were then. An intrinsic part of the contrast with Woodford as it is now and a timeless element in the intervening years, recorded for posterity in this work along with those scenes, streets and buildings that are no more.
