The Design Council, London, 1992.

The book is in very good condition. The binding is sound and tight with no creasing of the spine. The covers are a little grubby. A small label on the back cover.

“This is the story of Gordon Russell and his company: from arts and crafts to Modernism, from hand to machine production and from war-time utility furniture to products for today's international markets. Published for the centenary of Gordon Russell's birth, this authorized biography, illustrated with photographs and drawings, celebrates the life and achievements of one of the most important names in British design. He was also Director of the Council of Industrial Design (now the Design Council) and founder of its design centre. Each chapter reveals how the Russell family's commitment to quality and originality, and their investment in design experts, such as Nikolaus Pevsner, contributed to the company's enduring success through world wars, economic slumps and market changes.”
