Introduction to Honiton lace, Honiton Lace - a practical guide (2 books)

£12.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

2002. This introduction to the art of Honiton lace is aimed at both the beginner and at those with experience in other laces but new to Honiton. After chapters on equipment and preparation and the basic stitches, there are five patterns, described in detail and progressive in difficulty, which have been designed to demonstrate most of the techniques of flat Honiton lace. The more commonly used techniques are specially presented for easy reference and each pattern is followed by a discussion of the working methods employed. Two closing chapters deal with mounting and design.;The instructions will give the beginner both a thorough grounding and the confidence to move on to more complicated techniques and designs.;The author is a teacher and lecturer on many forms of bobbin lace and a number of other lace crafts. She is a member of national lacemakers' organizations both in England and abroad and has completed workshop tours in Germany and the USA.
1991. This book is extremely well set for the beginner with information given by written and pictorial instructions what I would call an 'Idiots Guide'. This book has a brilliant project one which is ideal to practice adding and removing bobbins in both whole and half stitch. Recommend for beginners and more experienced lacemakers .
Both books are in lovely clean condition with no marks. Introduction has very light creasing to the front cover corners.

Oxfam Books & Music Olney

Welcome to Oxfam Books And Music Olney, situated just off the market square in Stanley Court opposite the Co-op. Come and browse our extensive selection of books, music, DVDs, computer games and cards. In our shop you can discover a great range of material from the latest modern fiction to classic literature and vintage LPs. We are always happy to receive your donations of books or music, and you can choose to Gift Aid them to Oxfam. We might also be able to collect particularly large donations - just ask. We are always interested in hearing from people who wish to volunteer with us. Just pop in to collect an application form.

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
