Sub-Alpine Plants or Flowers Of The Swiss Woods And Meadows

£9.99

Product description

Published by George Routledge & Sons in 1912, this first edition is bound in its original green pictorial cloth, with a gilt floral picture on the front cover and gilt spine title lettering, and is in a fair condition overall. There is no dustjacket. The boards are bumped and fraying at the corners, and the back board is heavily marked and warped by water damage. The binding seems firm overall but the first plate is loose. The end papers, title pages and preface are spotted, as is the edge of the page block, but overall it is a clean copy. This is a comprehensive and more detailed description of plants found at lower altitudes than are treated in most books on alpine plants with excellent illustrations of individual plants and of scenes by the author of 'Alpine Flowers And Gardens'. There are thirty-three beautiful coloured plates by noted alpine artist George Flemwell and 168 figures.

Oxfam Bookshop Hexham

We relocated in January 2016 to larger premises and are now able to offer a wider range of books and music (you can come and check out your musical choices in our listening booth and also find out a lot more about Oxfam's work.). We have a new local interest section, more space for history and have extended our craft and arts offer.  We also sell cards, fair trade food and ethical cleaning and beauty products.

Hexham is a market town situated in the beautiful Tyne Valley - the ideal stopping off point before exploring Hadrian's Wall, Chesters, Housesteads and the Temple of Mithras at Carrawburgh.
