The Masters' Book of Ikebana

£60.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

This beautifully designed volume presents the background and principles of Japanese Flower Arrangement, with lessons by the masters of Japan's three foremost schools, and has a section on basic techniques. It contains glorious colour prints and many photographs to illuminate the text.

The binding cloth, with a kimono silk floral pattern, is in the favourite spring colour known as "Young Grass". The label, its shape and position in the tradition of old Japanese books, is made of cherry wood and shows the word 'Ikebana' in calligraphy. The cover band is of hand-crumpled Japanese paper, and the end papers show a detail from an ancient scroll painting showing a 12th-century cherry-blossom-viewing party.
The book has a plastic over-wrap which has protected the cloth. Text and illustrations are printed on a high grade quality paper.
