Reconstructing Individualism - Stanford University Press

£24.99

Product description

A collection of 16 essays displaying a wide diversity of views on individualism from contributors whose backgrounds span eight disciplines.

Three general assumptions inform the entire work: (1) Some form of individualism - broadly conceived as the view that the individual human subject is a maker of the world we inhabit - has been a key factor in the life of the West for the last 500 years; (2) That the individualist order of the modern Western world has met with challenges that have rendered its beliefs and doctrines problematic; and (3) That the concept of the individual needs to be rethought in the wake of the severe criticisms directed against it.

Oxfam Shop Cardiff

Our shop is situated in the Heath area of Cardiff, we work out of the Retail premises on Whitchurch Road, where Oxfam has been for over 35 years. Our role online, as with all Oxfam shops is to raise money in order to overcome poverty and suffering around the world including here in Wales. We could not achieve that without precious volunteer support which we are extremely grateful for. We need more of this valuable support and ask,if you live in or around Cardiff, to get in touch on: oxfamshopf5302@oxfam.org.uk. If you are able to spare a morning or afternoon each week with us, that would be fantastic, we offer the opportunity to expand your skills in many areas, work for one of the biggest charitable organisations in the world and importantly, you would be directly helping the poor and needy around the globe.
